The HuGi Way
I. Gaia, The Great Facilitator
We, Humanistic Gaianists, hold that Gaia—the system of the Earth—is the singular, self-regulating source and sustainer of all terrestrial life. Gaia is the Great Facilitator, dynamically creating and maintaining the conditions necessary for existence and harmony. Gaia does not exist as a simple resource, but as an active system worthy of our devoted reverence and protection.
II. Our place
Humanity holds a unique position within Gaia's fragile systems. We are capable of both the greatest benefit and the greatest harm.
1. The capacity to harm: Our unique technological progress and destructive consumption patterns have given us the unparalleled power to destabilize and potentially destroy the foundational systems that facilitate our own lives as well as others living here.
2. The Capacity to Benefit: Our conscious awareness, intelligence, and organizational skills grant us the unique responsibility to become the planet's Conscious Stewards—the agents capable of understanding, healing, and restoring the health of the Facilitator.

III. Core Tenets of Stewardship
Humanistic Gaianists express their reverence for Gaia under the guidance of three principles:
1. Impact Minimization: We commit to radically reducing our ecological footprint. Choices are carefully considered to ensure the well-being of Gaia and her systems.
2. Gaian Restoration rituals: As humans, we should participate in various activities, such as ecological restoration and biodiversity enhancement, to repair as much damage as possible done by past generations and our own actions. These rituals could be anything from picking up trash to designating some of your property as a wildlife or plant haven.
3. Spreading awareness: As HuGis, we should continue to educate communities about Gaian systems to instill an understanding as well as reverence. We must also continue to deepen our understanding of The Great Facilitator throughout our lives.
Conclusion: The Path of Co-Existence
Our goal is to play an active role in improving and conserving the system we live in. We express our spirituality through the ethical use of our ability to benefit rather than harm Gaia and her systems.
